Biography:
Ellen Troxclair is a small business owner, non-profit leader, devoted mom, and proven conservative. As one of the few Republicans, and youngest woman, to ever serve on the Austin City Council, she has stood as an unwavering fighter against leftist policies – and won.
A trailblazer for efficient and effective government, Ellen has played a key role in lowering property taxes and improving transparency at both the city and state level. As a councilwoman, Ellen lowered property taxes for all homeowners by implementing Austin's first homestead exemption. She became known as the budget watchdog, consistently cutting wasteful spending and reforming city programs for better results.
Following her tenure in elected office, she went on to serve as a Senior Fellow at the Texas Public Policy Foundation and further advocated for reducing taxes, improving education, and protecting life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Additionally, as the Director of Strategic Partnerships for Army Futures Command*, she helped to advise our military leaders tasked with modernizing our battle methods while helping to grow the central Texas economy.
Named a “Champion Woman” by the Independent Women’s Forum, Ellen has been recognized nationally for her bold leadership. Her bestselling book “Step Up!” equips others with the tools and information they need to make a difference in their communities. Ellen has also been a Fox News contributor and a frequent writer for national publications.
Ellen manages a thriving real estate business, Troxclair Residential Group, and has been recognized as one of the best in the business by both the Austin Business Journal’s Profiles in Power Awards and Platinum Top 50’s Realtor Awards. She and her husband, Caleb, are the proud parents of three young children -- Juliette, Margaret, and Brooks. As strong Christians, they are actively involved in their church Life Austin. And, are also devoted to showing their children the importance of giving back through non-profit volunteer work and community involvement.
Ellen serves in a leadership role for St. David’s Foundation, raising life-changing scholarship money for students from Central Texas, and has also been honored to serve on the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters Ice Ball, Ballet Austin, and the Wine and Food Foundation of Texas.
Born and raised in Texas, Ellen is committed to maintaining Texas as a beacon of liberty and freedom for many generations to come.
